 January, 2008

The band has diversified its music to include much more than Jazz.  Therefore, we have changed the name to CHARLIE REMILLARD & THE REASON WHY featuring Laurie Arnold.  We are able to accommodate all types of musical events including weddings, dinner dances, private parties, instrumentals, show events, as well as include vocal harmonies from Bill Cahill, Buzz Lewis, Steve Robinson and Steve Nichols along with our featured vocalist, Laurie Arnold.  We can accommodate solo, duo, trio, quartet, five piece or 6 piece performances.  Our group is extremely versatile and we are confident that we can accommodate any venue you need.

Currently, we are performing at The Mason Jar Restaurant located in Friendship Center on Hwy 200.  You can listen to Laurie, Buzz and Charlie at this venue and enjoy some fantastic down home cooking --wonderful deserts too!!!  Stop by the Mason Jar from 5-9pm on Fridays and Saturdays, enjoy a meal and some good music!

We had the pleasure of performing at the Marion County Public Library located at 2720 East Silver Springs Boulevard in Ocala on Saturday, October 20th.  The Library put together a very creative and educational event entitled:  Jazz, Zora, and the Harlem Renaissance Program. This proved to be an innovative and fun way of  introducing Jazz to children.  We would especially like to  thank Nancy Young and Kelly Stack for the wonderful job of organizing and coordinating the event and the warm welcome they extended to the band.  We enjoyed the entire program and had fun performing for the children!

The band was really "jazzing it up" on Saturday evening at the Dunnellon Jazz Festival.  We were located on the porch of Abigail's Restaurant located right on Main Street.  The weather was very accommodating, the food was great, and we had a great audience!
Laurie Arnold, our vocalist, was a big hit and charmed the audiance with her beautiful voice and outgoing personality! Buzz Lewis was "Buzz-Be-Cool" on his bass! Billy Cahill was dynamite on drums.  Robert Bjork's flute and sax performance was outstanding!  Steve Robinson was incredible on his sax and conga drums, and Charlie Remillard was "smokin" on keyboards!
We would like to send out a big "Thank You" to all of our supporters and fans! A "special thank you" to Richard Gillen and Domenic Tatone who tirelessly helped distribute all of our flyers and business cards to everyone! It was so much fun performing for all of you.  Great food, great weather and a wonderful evening of Jazz!   Don't forget to check out our Jazz Ensemble Calendar of Events located on this website - it will keep you informed of all of our upcoming performances!

The School's first Master Classes was held on Saturday, October 6th.  Both Jenna & Charlie worked together to team teach their students the scales and notation.  The sessions were very productive and fun.  The children rolled musical dice  and played some games that were designed to teach them while making the experience fun! Overall both sessions were a huge success!

Future Master Classes are being planned and as soon as we confirm the dates, we will post them on our School Calendar.  Parents can check our School Calendar by accessing this Website and clicking on the "School Calendar" option.   We would like to ask all of our parents to encourage their children's participation in these Master Classes since we believe the group dynamics plays a key role in the learning process.

Jenna & Charlie would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our parents for their continued support!
